User Management

You can add users and assign the projects and in each project you can assign roles to them.

In Qualitia, using Users screen the Administrator can create users, assign projects to the users, edit the details of a user, or remove a user from a project. The Administrator user can access Admin module as well as work on the projects assigned.

Add a User

The Users screen in Qualitia, the Administrator can create users to work on projects. These users are categorized into Temporary Users and System Users.
Users required for a short duration and not available in the Active Directory are Temporary Users. Users available in the Active Directory are System Users.

To add a temporary user:

  1. From the Expand Menu, click User Management.
  2. In the left pane, click the Add User button (
    ).
  3. Enter the User ID.
  4. Enter the User Name.
  5. Enter an Email ID.
  6. Select a Role.
  7. Clear the Active check box to make the user inactive, if required.
  8. Click Add.

A user is created with a default password. If you do not know the default password, contact the Qualitia administrator.

To add a user from Active Directory:

  1. From the Expand Menu, click User Management.
  2. In the left pane, click the Add User button (
    ).
  3. The Search Users screen appears.
    The LDAP Users pane of the screen displays a list of users in a tabular form.
  4. To locate a particular user quickly, enter User Name and click Search.
    The specified user appears on the LDAP Users pane.
  5. Select the specified user from LDAP Users pane.
  6. Click Add.
    Qualitia navigates you back to the New User screen. User ID, User Name, and Email ID fields of this screen display the values of the selected user.
  7. Clear the Active check box to make the user inactive, if required.
    The Active check box is selected by default in Qualitia.
  8. Select the System check box, if the user is a System user.
  9. Click OK.
    A System user is created in Qualitia. The user is assigned his/her own machine password to log on to Qualitia.

In Qualitia, during installation, a super Admin user is created with administrative privileges. The super Admin user further helps in maintaining projects, users, and roles.

This super admin has access to all the projects by default. 

Edit a User

You can edit the user details. You can also make a user inactive, who is no longer required for all the QAS projects.

To edit a user:

  1. From the Expand Menu, click User Management.
  2. In the left pane, select a user.
  3. Click the Edit User button (
    ).

  4. The Users screen appears displaying the list of users in a tabular format.
  5. Select the required user from Users table.
  6. Click Edit.
    The Edit Users screen appears displaying details of the selected user.
  7. Edit User Name, if required.
  8. Edit User Email, if required.
  9. Select or clear the Active check box to make activate or deactivate the user .
  10. Select or clear the System check box to activate or deactivate the LDAP authentication, if required.
    Note: For LDAP users, the System check box is selected.
  11. Click OK.
    The user is saved with the edited values.

Remove a User

In Qualitia, you can remove a user who is no longer actively using Qualitia. 

In order to remove user from Qualitia, you should first remove it from the projects.

To remove a user from Qualitia:

  1. From the Expand Menu, click Users Management.
  2. Select a required user from the Users table.
  3. Click Remove.
    The user is removed from the project after confirmation.

Manage User Role

Qualitia implements role-based security for users. Roles are based on functionality of users like Testers, Automation Test Engineers, and so on. Appropriate privileges are assigned to the roles.

Qualitia Automation Studio (QAS) contains the following five pre-defined roles assigned with specific Qualitia privileges.

You can create a custom role using the pre-defined privileges of Qualitia.

Adding a Role

Different users perform different roles while working on projects. Some of them could be testers, test-leads, project managers, and so on. The role assigned to a user determines the privileges of the user.

In Qualitia, by using the Roles screen, you can create roles with appropriate privileges.

To create a Role:

  1. From the Expand Menu, click User Management.
  2. Click the Roles tab.
  3. In the left pane, click the Add Role button (
    ).
  4. Enter the name of a role in the Role box.
  5. Enter Description.
  6. Under Assigned Privileges, select the checkboxes of the privileges that you want to map with the role .
  7. Click Save.
    The new role is created and listed in the Roles table of Roles screen.

Editing a Role

You may need to edit the details related to the roles. You can edit the name of a role, its description, or the assigned privileges as per project requirements.

In Qualitia, using Roles screen, you can edit the name of a role, its description, or assigned privileges.

 To edit a Role:

  1. From the Expand Menu, click User Management.
  2. Click the Roles tab.
  3. In the left pane, select the role you want to edit.
  4. Click the Edit Role button (
    ).
  5. Edit the name of the role in the Role box, if required.
  6. Edit the Description box, if required.
  7. (Optional) You can assign with new privileges or unassign with existing privileges.
  8. Click OK.
    The selected role is saved with the edited values. 

Changing a Role

To change the existing role of a user for a project:

  1. Log in to QAS using admin credentials.
  2. Click Project Management.
  3. Select the project for which you want to change the user role.
  4. Click Manage User.
  5. Select the user whose role you want to change.
  6. From the Role drop-down list, select the role you want to assign to the selected user.
  7. Click Add.

Removing a Role

Note: You cannot delete a role if it is assigned to a user.

To remove a role:

  1. From the Expand Menu, click User Management.
  2. Click the Roles tab.
  3. In the left pane, click the Remove Role button (
    ).

Manage User Account

Once your administrator assigns you User ID and Password, you can start working with Qualitia logging into Qualitia Automation Studio.

When logging in as an administrator user, user is requested to use the same user ID and Password set during the Qualitia Server Installation. 

Logging on to Qualitia

When logging in to Qualitia as an administrator for the first time, use the credentials entered when installing Qualitia Server.

Once you have logged in successfully, create users from the Admin section. Once the administrator has created the accounts for other users, they can log on to their user accounts using the designated username and password.

 To log on to Qualitia:

  1. Double-click the Qualitia <<version>> short-cut on Desktop or quick start menu.
    The Qualitia Test Automation Studio screen is displayed.
  2. Enter User ID.
  3. Enter Password.
  4. Click Log On.

Qualitia verifies the User ID and Password and displays the appropriate screen.
For example:

  • For the Administrator user, the Admin screen is displayed.
  • For the Project Manager user (or Manager Role user), the Dashboard screen is displayed.
  • For the Test Lead user (or Tester Role user), the Develop screen is displayed.

If you forgot your password, please contact Qualitia Administrator to reset your password.

Changing Password

You should change your password frequently to ensure security of your account. For the users present in the Active Directory, the Change Password menu is inactive. If you cannot see the Change Password menu, contact your Administrator. 

To change the password:

  1. On the Expand menu, click Users Management.
    The Change Password screen is displayed.
  2. Enter Current Password.
  3. Enter New Password.
  4. Enter new password in the Confirm Password field to confirm.
  5. Click OK.

For LDAP / System Users:

For system users, Qualitia uses the password of the machine where Qualitia client is installed. This password would only be changed if the user updates machine / AD / LDAP password.


Change the QDS Credentials

Design Studio user may change the password for security reasons. You may update design studio password in the automation studio.

To update Design Studio password:

  1. Log on to Qualitia automation studio as an administrator user.
  2. On the Develop or Execution section, click the down arrow next to the Design Studio button.
  3. Select Change Credentials.
  4. Enter the new design studio password, and click Test Connection to authenticate newly added password.
  5. Click Save.

Reset User Password

The Users screen in Qualitia allows users to reset the password. The Administrator user can reset the password for other users of Qualitia. 

To reset the password of a user:

  1. From the Expand Menu, click Users Management.
    Select the required user from Users table.
  2. Click Reset Password.
    The password of the user is reset to the default password.

The selected user can now log into Qualitia using the default password. In case you do not know the default password, please contact Qualitia Administrator. 

It is recommended that Qualitia Admin should not share the default password with other users. Instead, the admin can log in to the user account with the default password and change the password to something else. This new password can be shared with the user.

The selected user can now log into Qualitia using the new password. In case Qualitia admin does not know the default password, please contact Qualitia Support.

 Qualitia Administrator is allowed to reset the password of Qualitia users only. If you are using active directory or LDAP users, please get in touch with your domain administrator.
